More than 25 years corporate development and exploration/development management experience in worldwide exploration, merger and acquisition evaluations, and project oversight from exploration design to reserve and mine development. 

Extensive experience with M&A evaluations, numerous geological terranes and mines, and a proven record of assembling and managing cross-functional and multinational teams.  Large-scale opportunity generation and deal making experience and have managed projects that resulted in the discovery and development of more than 2.5 million mineable ounces.  Very strong technical and economic analysis background, including reserve engineering and evaluation of operating mines.  Have directed or participated in more than 50 formal due diligence evaluations worldwide.

President of partnership-owned consulting company specializing in the identification and evaluation of quality exploration and mining projects worldwide.  Responsibilities include exploration and international corporate development.

BATTLE MOUNTAIN GOLD COMPANY (BMG) - Houston, Texas    
1984 – 1998

 Manager of Corporate Development - Houston, Texas (1996-1998)

Formulated mergers and acquisition (M&A) strategies and managed corporate development activities worldwide from BMG’s corporate office.   

         Assessed country and market risks and identified M&A targets through internal research and review of selected regions, projects, and companies and analysis of external mining analyst or investment banker reports and presentations.

         Performed and managed technical reviews and financial analyses both onsite and offsite, including project and company identification and evaluations and management of formal cross-functional due diligence teams.

         Evaluated and summarized individual and team analyses and formulated and recommended acquisition strategies to senior management – evaluations worldwide included Latin America, Africa, North America, and Austral Asia.

         Managed reserve/exploration evaluation portion of BMG’s due diligence of Hemlo, formulated strategies and presentations to maximize return on BMG’s investments in affiliated and JV companies, and provided oversight of mining and exploration project farm-outs.

Vice President Exploration North America (BMEC) and Director of Exploration & Evaluations North America (BMG) - Reno, Nevada (1995-1996)

Directed and managed North American exploration and business development for Battle Mountain Exploration Company.  Two offices in Reno and Helena with focus on U.S. and Canada exploration and evaluations. 

         Managed all phases of exploration, including opportunity identification and generation, negotiations, project management, land and legal, budgeting and accounting, economic viability analyses, and personnel.

         Also supervised exploration and reserve engineering for BMG’s North American mine locations and assisted corporate development evaluations and emerging markets exploration worldwide – evaluation of exploration and mining projects in the U.S., Canada, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America.

         Critical team accomplishments include pre-development of the Phoenix mine at Battle Mountain, Nevada, a 3+ million-ounce gold deposit currently in the permitting stage.

Manager, Western U.S. Exploration – Reno, Nevada (1993-1995)

Managed western U.S. exploration from Reno, Nevada.                                  

         Managed all phases of exploration including programs at BMG’s mine sites – offices in Battle Mountain, Helena, and Reno.

         Also directed or served on  numerous valuation/due diligence teams that appraised US and offshore companies and exploration/mining projects – evaluations in North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin America.

         A major project to re-evaluate the Battle Mountain district led to discovery of the plus 2 million oz Phoenix deposit and onsite evaluations in China led to acquisition of a large exploration project in Guiyang Province.

District Geologist - Reno, Nevada (1989-1993)

Managed gold exploration programs in Nevada, California, and Oregon.                  

         Project acquisition and exploration led to discovery of the plus 500 k oz Long Valley, CA hot springs gold deposit.

         Cooperative exploration at the Battle Mountain mine site resulted in the discovery and development of the plus 400,000 ounce Reona deposit, a heap leach gold deposits in production presently.

Regional Geologist - Reno Nevada (1987-1989)

Formulated and managed regional exploration programs primarily for pediment- (Nevada), volcanic- (Nevada, Oregon and Utah), and gold skarn- (western U.S. and British Columbia) hosted gold deposits.  Reported to US Exploration Manager.

         Gold skarn exploration in Washington State based on developed in-house skarn expertise was critical to acquisition and development of the 1.6 million ounce Crown Jewel deposit currently in the final permitting stages.

Project Geologist - Reno, Nevada (1986-1987)

   Generated and managed exploration projects in Nevada for sedimentary- and
   volcanic-hosted gold deposits.

Project Manager P.T. Sungai Kencana and Senior Geologist Duval Alluvial Mining -Jakarta, Indonesia (1985-1986)

   Designed, implemented, and managed exploration of a 5,500 square kilometer
   Contract of Work in Kalimantan, Indonesia for porphyry and placer gold deposits on
    behalf of Pennzoil during BMG spin-off.

         Incorporated a new company in Indonesia, conducted government liaison with required reporting and administration, and hired and trained personnel (230 employees).  Also, administered accounting and legal oversight, designed and constructed infrastructure, and formulated and managed all exploration.

         Achieved discovery of a plus 30 million m3 placer gold deposit at Sungai Raya, Kalimantan Barat.

Advanced Geologist - Duval Corporation - Reno, Nevada (1984-1985)

Conducted gold exploration in Nevada for predecessor company to Battle Mountain Gold.

AMOCO MINERALS COMPANY - Reno, Nevada
1981-1984

Precious Metals Geologist

Formulated and managed exploration programs in Nevada and California from grass roots exploration to drilling.

         Focused on epithermal/mesothermal gold deposits in sedimentary, volcanic, and gneissic terranes.

         Served as consultant to Amoco New Zealand for three months to evaluate epithermal gold deposits of the Coromandel Peninsula – results included a new interpretation of the Southern Cross gold deposit.

CYPRUS MINING COMPANY- Spokane, Washington        
1980 – 1981

   Project Geologist

Supervised onsite exploration and pre-development of the Thompson Creek molybdenum mine, Idaho.

         Drilled out the ore reserve, brought the $350 million project into predevelopment, and reinterpreted the deposit geology.

         Four publications concerning the geology and genesis of the calc-alkaline porphyry molybdenum deposit.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE                                                                                           1976 – 1980

Held the following positions:

·     Exploration Geologist and Geochemist for Anaconda Copper Company - Butte, Montana (1979-1980).

·     Geologist in southeast Alaska for US Borax & Chemical Corporation - Spokane, Washington (1976).

M. Sc. Economic Geology - Washington State University, Pullman, Washington - 1979

Thesis entitled “Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology, Structure and Mineral Deposits of the Mineral Ridge Area (Mosses Mining District), Colville Indian Reservation, Washington”.  Supported by Bureau of Indian Affairs Exploration Grant, HEW Fellowship, and Teaching Assistantships in Geology and Chemistry.
